The right mentor isn’t always already in the building
Internal mentoring can be brilliant. We provide experienced, independent mentoring when the right person isn’t available internally.
Looking for mentoring for yourself?
A different perspective
Knowing the organisation and understanding the person aren’t the same thing.
Internal mentors bring knowledge, networks and context that can be hugely useful.
They’re also part of the organisation.
There are times when someone needs a person outside it. Someone they can think with freely, who brings experience without carrying another organisational role in the relationship, and who has been chosen because they’re a good fit rather than simply available.
We believe that distinction matters.
Neuroinclusive Mentoring
“I wish I’d had a mentor who understood how I work.”
We are hearing this more and more.
Not necessarily someone with the same diagnosis or the same life experience.
Someone who understands that different people need different things in order to do good work. Who doesn’t mistake difference for difficulty, or assume that what worked for them must be the answer for somebody else.
We’d say that’s a particular strength of TIP.
Jen is a member of the Association of Business Mentors and brings extensive mentoring experience alongside her wider work in coaching, supervision and neuroinclusion.
And, because fit comes before ego, she won’t automatically be the right mentor for everyone.
You’ve already got internal mentors.

That’s fabulous.
We can help them become more neuroinclusive mentors.
Being experienced at your job doesn’t automatically teach you how to mentor someone else.
And having lived through a similar situation doesn’t automatically make you the right person to guide another human through theirs.
TIP can train internal mentors in neuroinclusive practice. That means staying curious, noticing when their own experience is getting in the way, and understanding the boundaries of the mentoring role.
It can form part of an existing mentoring programme or wider neuroinclusion work.
Bring us the situation.
You might be looking for an external mentor. You might already have a mentoring programme that isn’t quite meeting this need.
Or you may simply know that some support would be useful and not yet know what form it needs to take.
Tell us what’s happening.
We’ll work out what makes sense from there.
Fit before ego.
