Gatherings
Get out. Meet people. Have a conversation.
Netwalks, PubNet and other informal ways to get together with people who work in and around St Albans.
We call them Gatherings because that covers it rather nicely.
Netwalks in St Albans
A good reason to get outside.

Working from home, working for yourself or running a business can involve an awful lot of sitting down. And an awful lot of time on your own.
Netwalks get us out of the house, away from the screen and moving.
We take an easy-paced walk around somewhere in St Albans, meet people who work and run businesses locally, have some good conversations and finish with coffee and cake at an independent café.
There are no elevator pitches. We don’t go around the group asking everyone to introduce themselves.
We just walk and talk.
If some business comes out of it, that’s a bonus.
They’re free
There’s no charge to come on a Netwalk.
That matters. Getting out, meeting people and making connections shouldn’t depend on whether there’s room in this month’s networking budget.
Know before you go
We make the walks as accessible as we can.
We also welcome small people in prams/pushchairs
Before each one, you’ll get a clear email (Netwalk News) explaining the route, distance (usually 2.5-3km – ish), surfaces and anything else useful to know. Like the mud rating, parking and proximity to a loo.
Well-behaved Netdogs are welcome on almost all our walks. Most of our coffee stops are dog-friendly too, but not all, so we’ll always tell you in Netwalk News.
If the walk itself isn’t right for you, you’re very welcome to meet us for coffee afterwards.
Coming up…
All our walks aim to depart at 10am
Fancy buying the coffee and cake (and getting a load of love on socials in return)?
We’re always happy to hear from local businesses that would like to sponsor a Netwalk. Drop us a line at gatherings@thoseinterestingpeople.com
PubNet
PubNet exists because Netwalkers asked for it.
Same easy conversations, just in a pub – and at a time that works better for people who can’t always make a daytime walk.
We meet, have a drink, eat if we fancy it and put a bit of business through a local pub while we’re there.
No pitches. No going around the room.
Talk about work if that’s where the conversation goes. Don’t if it isn’t.
When the evenings are light enough, we’ll add a walk beforehand.
Because a summer evening walk followed by the pub sounds lovely.
Wet pavements in the dark do not.
And whatever else we gather for
Netwalks came first. PubNet came because people asked for it.
There may be other things worth getting together for too.
That’s why we’ve called this bit of Those Interesting People Gatherings. It gives us somewhere for the things we haven’t thought of yet.
Fancy coming?
